Milky white glass is the functional choice here, not just the stylistic one. Because the glass is opalescent through its full thickness rather than clear with a coating, it diffuses the filament instead of showing it, which removes the hot spot and the hard shadow line a clear shade produces. Over a dining table that means light falls evenly across the surface and nobody sits looking into a visible bulb.
Each shade is hand blown, so the wall thickness varies slightly and the glass carries a soft irregularity that pressed glass does not. Brass accents at the fitting and canopy give the fixture a warm metal note against the white, which is the detail that places it in the mid century tradition rather than reading as a generic white globe.
Three profiles are offered, from a shallow 11.8 inch dome to a taller 11 inch wide bell and a wider 12.6 inch form, so the fixture can be scaled to the table or run in a matched row above a counter. The 59 inch cord is adjustable for ceiling height, and the fixture takes a standard E27 bulb on a 110 to 120V supply, so output and colour can be chosen at the bulb.
